KieraOctober 13, 2026Comfortable, cute, clean, ☺This was one of my favourite stays during my solo road trip, in such a beautiful location, I cannot recommend this spot enough. I stayed in the red 'heather' cabin which had a big double bed, and a second double bed on the 2nd half floor, they also supplied an abundance of towels which were super thick and fluffy, and a TV which was great to watch some movies! Other than the room, the property itself had everything you need, a laundry room (which i didn't need to use so not sure of extra costs if any) the shower and toilet room was very clean and tidy! There was also a cute seating area opposite the bathroom area. In addition to the Inn there is also a little restaurant next door which I ate both dinner and 'breakfast' at, the food was great, reasonably priced and the staff were all very helpful. Now I did meet one of the chefs and the restaurant manager but I cant recall their names sadly, we ended up chatting for half hour and they were super friendly and curious about my travels, really nice to talk to!! Overall had an awesome stay and highly recommend you choose this spot. ☹The only thing I didn't like too much was the check in process, it was a little complicated as you had to fill out an online form and then had to wait for staff to confirm it before getting access to the room and because i was driving all day i wasn't able to fill it all out until i arrived at the accommodation in the evening, whilst also taking the deposit online, I much prefer cash personally and try to avoid online forms where I can. I think it would be great if there was a possibility to offer two options cash/in person vs card/ online. But I can completely appreciate how the online process works better for the business. Also I went in for breakfast at 10.45 and was told breakfast is no longer being served which I was slightly disappointed by as breakfast runs until 11, but again coming from hospitality background myself I can understand why that might happen and the burrito I got instead was super delicious!Posted on Booking

Very good place to stay for visiting Kings Canyon and Sequoia ☺Located right on 180 in Dunlap, has onsite parking. Well facilitated with all amenities in spite of the spacing constraints. Property owners were friendly and helping, complimentary coffee was nice, food in the restaurant was good, we specially liked Pasta and Quesadilla. We had a very tasty breakfast on the day we departed and the restaurant hostess was friendly. We especially liked the down home decor in the restaurant and the picture of the Last Supper on the wall sealed the deal for us. If we are ever in the region again, this will be the place we stay. ☹The check in process was cumbersome and the floor in the cabin was not level. Staff all very friendly. Rooms are basic and could use some minor maintenance and repair. Room 9 had a full bed and bunk bed above. The frame was very wobbly and I did not feel comfortable sleeping above my family. Although, it may be intended for a child. There was a mirror mounted on the wall behind the bed which did not make much sense. The mirror in the bathroom is about a foot too low. Things seemed to be patch worked into the room/bathroom. When I checked it had come in about 2 am of the day we arrived. I had to charge up my iPad, so drove down to a restaurant about 10 minutes away. After I pre-registered, paid my Security Deposit, I was supposed to wait up to 4 hours to get the code to the room. We went back to the restaurant attached to Genas, and the girl there gave me the code so we could get in. Was nerve-racking. Room small but clean. About 6-8” inbetween toilet and getting into shower, but we are both thin so got in sideways. No fridge or microwave, but we brought our own Keruig. The great thing about the place was the food and the staff at the attached restaurant— it was amazing. Ginas place grew on us. It was only 20 minutes from Kings Canyon, so that was really convenient. I would return, but wished I had been aware of pre-registration. Battery on door died, so we couldn’t get into room second night, but the Handiman came right over and replaced battery. We stopped here for Sunday brunch while coming out of the park, and it turned out to be a wonderful find. The place has an old-fashioned, homey feel, decorated with vintage photographs and family memorabilia. Everything was very well maintained, including the restrooms, and our server was incredibly warm and friendly. I ordered the small portion of pot roast, which was more than enough for me. The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, and the gravy was rich, deeply savory, and full of umami. It came with mashed potatoes and sautéed zucchini—a hearty but nicely balanced meal. My friend had the salmon plate with salad and enjoyed it as well. The food was freshly prepared, warm, and genuinely delicious, and the prices felt quite reasonable for the quality and portions. Having access to a well-equipped kitchen and a living room to watch movies at night was a real pleasure. The wifi works well and the parking for the Lodge was always easy. We felt we were close enough to both King's Canyon and Sequoia National Park for us to have rich and full days of exploration. The food at Bella Brooke Cafe was generally quite good, if a bit pricey. ☹The staff in the restaurant were not exactly friendly. Sometimes, the interactions were just awkward. As a resident guest, you get a discount on food but you have to remember to mention it each time. Of course, I occasionally forget to ask for my discount. I would have liked the opportunity to have an open tab to avoid this. Lastly, the $70 security deposit is NOT a credit card hold as it is everywhere else on the planet. Here, they charge you $70 and then you wait a few days after your stay to get a credit back to your card. This quirky sound of the road restaurant could be an institution or just a stop for weary travelers. For us it was an oasis of great food choices. I had a cheese steak that was supposed to be 6 ounces of meat and it had to be a pound. We had a hot dog, a quesedilla and a grilled cheese sandwich. There was also plenty of seating inside, which had an old-school cabin-like vibe. All four of us ordered the Morro Rock Ribeye Steak, medium rare. Service was generally friendly, but our server was super young and a little nervous. I ordered a glass of red wine and she brought out a white, and they were definitely a bit thrown by my friend's request for an Old Fashioned. They did make a solid one though! The steaks took a while, which was fine since we weren't in a rush. Mine came out great! I liked the Montreal steak spice flavor and general preparation. Unfortunately, I seemed to get the only good steak of the bunch. The other 3 were very overcooked and under-seasoned. Otherwise though, we all enjoyed the veggie and baked potato sides. Miguel R.May 4, 2026On a recent trip to Sequoia my friend Denise and i stayed here. When I booked the place I did so after consulting a few websites but not really diving into them, so I did not know what this place was about. I just knew it was rustic--- on theme for a woods-forward trip- and close to Sequoia. And I assumed it was, at its core, an inn in a town. When Denise and I arrived we discovered that what awaited us was different than what we expected- not in an extreme way, but, in a way that separated where we slept from where we had to shower. These two points were far enough that we would need to walk from our room to another structure. Not a far walk, but still a walk that felt inconvenient because we are city folk, not outhouse people, even if they are modernized. I do not know if I made it clear, Denise and I discovered that what I booked was a cabin with no bathroom and the bathroom was like a 10 to 15 feet walk to a modern outhouse that felt impossible to get to, especially in the black and cold of the night. Denise and I were introduced to our shed turn cabin at around 10::00 p.m. We quickly accepted that we did not have a typical inn room, I had opted for the green cabin. It was a form of glamping. The actual room was snug. She took the bed up that up a ladder, like the one one walks up when they have bunk beds. And I stayed on the bottom bed. The place had a table, hooks, the beds a tv mounted on a corner and not much else. It was a place to sleep, and watch tv while laying down on the bed, it was not much more. So when I call it a cabin, do not imagine a cabin in the woods with a fire, a bear rug, a couch with quilted cushions and a mounted elk on the wall. It literally was what I described before--- mostly a couple of beds with a shed built around it. I showered in the outhouse the next morning. It had two stalls with a toilet and three to four showers, with one out of order. I had stepped into the bathroom of mountain folk and as a vacation experience it slapped, if it were my regular life, I would miss the privacy and comfort of a city bathroom with its sturdy plumbing and opportunity for me to blast my beats as I shower. When I went inside my shower, I saw that the shower was not a shower-head mounted on a wall. Instead it was one of those shower heads that is like a hose. You can pick it up, and shower with it while you scrub yourself with one hand, and hold the shower head with the other. I did not fully understand how to change from old clothes to my new clothes, so I ended up wetting my new clothes. I left them in the corner of the shower, and I believed that the water from the shower hose would not get them, but it did. For those who think that they would have handled the situation better than I did, even thought it was their first time, like it was my first time, I say they are probably right. I tend to be clumsy and miss hooks, and not really think of clothes enough to protect them from hose water that can run wild. In this place, one has to prepare logistically to tackle a shower. When Denise and I woke up the next morning, we were able to see the expansive wood scenery that awaited us. It was precious and majestic and the pay-off of enduring the lack of city comforts. The place also had this patio area with fairies, they were ceramic of course, but maybe at a certain time of day they awake at least for seconds to tend to the woods so they keep green and strong. I sat there. Took pictures of the trees, through a netting roof, and at this moment knew I was in a rustic-wood dream sponsored by dust of fairies, and I was in a state of stiff calm that settled by a nymph's blessing. With the poetic stripped, the place offered me peace because I was surrounded with pronounced nature in the form of tall trees, dirt trails, a blue sky, and I was not in a rush. I could simply enjoy the blue, green and brown all around me, with ticks of the clock ignored. I guess that is the promise of a vacation in the woods fulfilled. There was also a cat that belonged to the place. It was peached colored and clipped in all its glory. I forgot its name. Denise and I took a short walk to the small clearing behind the inn. And the cat decided to nestle besides her. So this place also has another charming quality of a good inn: a permanent guest, of the feline persuasion, that always greets visitors with a purr and a paw. Those kind of touches transformed our wooden cabin in the woods, into a wooden cabin in the woods where we interacted with a four legged creation, not a moose or a bear, but still the spirit of nature's animals was all around us. I just re-saw the picture of the tall trees behind the netting roof and I felt the umph of nature's breeze hitting my inside again. Kathi S.April 27, 2026Cute little Cafe in the way to or from the Sequoia nat'l park. The food looked amazing but we only bought coffee. It did take a bit to get the macchiato's but the ambiance & loudness of all the staff made it worth the wait. My son bought Misty's angel wings, which is a drink honoring a former manager who was killed in an accident in the way to work. God bless them & the family.Posted on Yelp

Oscar R.April 21, 2026Bella Brooke cafe has breakfast, burgers, happy hour starting at 2 pm with BOGO appetizers. Very broad menu-they know their customer base of NP-extreme sports folks, plus locals! Our lunch was 5-star (Cali Fire burger and Bear Paw Patty Melt)-excellent! Great fries, too.
